Messer’s Individual Cylinder Control (ICC) program is a first-of-its-kind solution in the Canadian compressed gas industry—developed to eliminate the guesswork, disputes, and costly losses associated with traditional cylinder rental systems. With ICC, Messer customers gain full visibility into their cylinder holdings, helping them reduce risk, lower costs, and streamline their operations.
In 2010, when Messer asked customers what we could do better, the most common answer was simple: “Track your cylinders.”
We listened—and built a solution that’s changing how businesses across Canada manage their gas inventory.
In the traditional gas tank rental model, customers are responsible for cylinders in their possession until they’re returned—even if they’re accidentally swapped, stolen, or returned through a third party. Misplaced cylinders can cost customers up to $3,500 per unit, and in some cases, businesses have been charged tens of thousands of dollars for lost inventory.
Whether cylinders are forgotten at job sites, borrowed without tracking, or returned by someone else, disputes and confusion over inventory are inevitable.
ICC is Messer’s answer to these costly and frustrating issues.
Messer Canada was the first in the industry to implement closed-loop cylinder tracking, and today, thousands of customers benefit from our ICC system. Every Messer-owned cylinder is uniquely barcoded and tracked through each movement—whether it’s delivered, exchanged, or returned.
Even if a barcode is missing, each cylinder contains unique identifiers that allow it to be traced and credited back to the appropriate customer upon return. Because only Messer or authorized partners can fill Messer cylinders, all units eventually return to a Messer facility, where they are scanned and automatically removed from your account—no matter who returned them.
